I think the audience is reasonably general as it would appeal to mainstream markets, however I think its primary target market would be males between 18-25.
Firstly I think it would appeal to males as males have stereotypically been viewed as the more violent of the genders and therefore would relate more to a violent film females are often stereotyped to be the more squeamish so they wouldn't like the gory scenes.
I think the audience will be between 18-25 as that is the youngest of the 18+ age certification and the younger the generation the more aggressive they are viewed, they would therefore wish to watch movies of aggressive natures as it would satisfy their needs as stated by the Gratifications theory.
another common theory that would attract the same target audience is the Hypodermic needle theory as the younger generations of 18+ would be absorbed into the piece.
Other movies of similar origin that appeal to the same target market of myself is movies such as Snatch, Pulp Fiction, Lock stock and two smoking Barrels and Wolf of Wallstreet, as they are all 18+ they are all reasonably around the same target audience of 18-30 max.
